This policy explains how EDITH Technologies Pvt. Ltd. ("we", "us"), operator of GermanArena, handles personal data. We are based in Surat, Gujarat, India and serve learners in the EU and worldwide.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. Full stop.

1. What we collect

• Account information: name, email address, and profile details you provide (including data from Google sign-in).
• Learning data: exam attempts, answers, scores, writing and speaking submissions, teacher links, and progress history.
• Payment information: handled by our payment processor. We receive transaction status and billing metadata, never your full card details.
• Usage analytics: pages viewed, features used, and aggregated activity to improve the platform.
• Device and technical data: IP address, browser, device type, and security/login logs.
• Support messages: anything you send us via contact or support forms.

2. How we use it

• To provide the service: accounts, exams, scoring, feedback and teacher features.
• To improve the platform, content quality and question difficulty calibration.
• To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
• To send service-related communications (account, billing, security and exam results).
• To protect the platform against fraud, cheating, and abuse.
• To comply with legal and accounting obligations.

For EU users, our legal bases are contract performance (running the service), legitimate interests (security and product improvement), consent (optional analytics and marketing), and legal obligation.

3. Third parties and processors

We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, and only as needed to run the platform: hosting and database infrastructure, our payment processor, transactional email delivery, and analytics.

4. Data storage and security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Access is restricted through role-based access controls, row-level database security, and audit logging of staff actions. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify affected users and regulators of a qualifying breach as required by law.

6. Your rights

You can request access to your data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your account and data, export/portability of your data, restriction or objection to certain processing, and withdrawal of consent where processing is consent-based. These rights apply under the GDPR for EU users and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 for users in India.

Email support@germanarena.com from your account address and we will respond within 30 days. EU users may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.

7. Children's privacy

GermanArena is built for adult learners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Data retention

We keep account and learning data while your account is active. After account deletion, personal data is removed or anonymised within 90 days, except records we must keep for legal, tax or accounting purposes (typically up to 8 years for invoices) and security logs kept for a limited period to prevent abuse.

9. International data transfers

As an India-based company serving EU and global users, your data may be processed outside your country. Where EU personal data is transferred, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses with our processors.
